Schureman, James

merchant, congressman, United States senator, was born Feb. 12, 1756, in New Brunswick, N.

J. He was a delegate to the continental congress in 1786 and 1787; was a representative in congress from New Jersey from 1789 to 1791, and from 1797 to 1799; and was a senator in congress from 1799 to 1801. He was again a representative from 1813 to 1815; and was at one time mayor of New Brunswick. He died Jan. 23, 1824, in New Brunswick, N. J.
