Robie, Frederick

soldier, lawyer, state senator, congressman, was born Aug. 12, 1822, in Gorham, Maine. He was a representative in the Maine state legislature for seven years, serving as speaker for two sessions; and was a state senator for two terms. He served as paymaster in the union army throughout the civil war. He was a member of the executive council on the staff of the governor of Maine for four years; and was made master of the Maine State Grange of Patrons of Husbandry. In 1882 he was elected governor of Maine for the term of two years; and was re-elected in 1884.
