Rice, Edward Y
lawyer, jurist, state legislator, congressman, was born Feb. 8, 1820, in Logan county, Ky. In 1847 he was elected county recorder of Montgomery county, Ill.; was a member of the legislature in 1849; and was elected judge of Montgomery county, and served two years. He was appointed master in chancery from 1853 until 1857, when he was elected judge of the eighteenth circuit of Illinois; and was re-elected in 1861, and in 1867. He was a member of the constitutional convention of Illinois in 1869; and was elected to the forty-second congress as a democrat.
