Potter, Allen
merchant, state legislator, congressman, was born Oct. 2, 1818, in Saratoga county, N. Y. He served one term in the Michigan legislature. He subsequently turned his attention to banking, and became president of the National bank of Kalamazoo. He was elected president of the village in 1859, 1863, 1870 and 1872; president of the local board of education in 1870 and 1871; and was president of the Kalamazoo and South Haven Railroad company. He was defeated for congress in 1872; and in 1874 was elected a representative from Michigan to the forty-fourth congress.
