Pollock, James
lawyer, jurist, congressman, governor, was born Sept. 11, 1810, in Milton, Pa. He was a judge of the court of common pleas; was a representative in congress from his native state from 1843 to 1849; and was governor of Pennsylvania from 1855 to 1858. He was a delegate to the peace congress of 1861; and in that year was appointed director of the United States mint in Philadelphia, serving as such until 1867. He died April 19, 1890, in Lock Haven, Pa.
