Pennock, Morris C

merchant, banker, poet, was born May 22, 1830, in Chester county, Pa. His father, John Pennock, moved to a farm near Salem, Ohio, in 1832. His early manhood was spent in farming, teaching and clerking. In 1862 he settled in Alliance, Ohio, and established the hardware firm of Wright and Pennock, which is still flourishing. He was one of the founders of the Alliance Bank company, the leading financial institution of the city, of which he is president. His tastes are literary and artistic, and find expression in occasional poetical contributions to different journals, selections from which appear in Poets of America, and other standard works.
