Packer, John B
lawyer, state legislator, congressman, was born March 21, 1824, in Sunbury, Pa. He was a district attorney from 1842 to 1847; and was a member of the state legislature in 1850 and 1851. He was elected a representative from Pennsylvania to the fortyfirst congress. He served on the committees on banking and currency, and the interior department; and was reelected to the forty-second, forty-third, and forty-fourth congresses as a republican. He served on several important committees, and as chairman of the committee on post-offices and post roads. He died July 7, 1891, in Sunbury, Pa.
