MONTGOMERY, JUSTIN ROBERT M., lawyer, jurist, was born May 12, 1849, in Eaton Rapids, Mich. Since 1877 he has practiced law in Grand Rapids, Mich.; and was assistant United States attorney from that time until 1881. In that year he was elected judge of the seventeenth judicial circuit; was re-elected and served until 1888. In 1891 he was elected a justice of the supreme court of Michigan for term expiring in 1901.
MONTGOMERY, MARCUS WHITMAN, clergyman, author, was born in 1839 in New York. He was a congregational clergyman, instructor in Chicago Theological seminary since 1890; and the author of History of Jay County, Indiana; A Wind from the Holy Spirit; and The Mormon Delusion. He died in 1894.
MONTGOMERY, MARTIN VAN BU- REN, soldier, lawyer, legislator, was born Oct. 20, 1840, in Eaton Rapids, Mich. In 1870 he was elected a representative in the Michigan state legislature and served two years. In 1875 he moved to Lansing, Mich.; in 1876 was a delegate to the democratic national convention; and in 1885 was appointed commissioner of patents in the department of the interior at Washington.
