Monnett, Hamlin Virgil
soldier, physician, surgeon, was born Aug. 21, 1843, in Bucyrus, Ohio. He received the rudiments of his education in the public schools of his native city; attended the Hospital Medical college of St. Joseph, Mo.; and graduated from the Marion Sims College of Medicine at St. Louis, Mo.
During the war he served in the eightysixth and one hundred and thirty-sixth regiments Ohio volunteer infantry. He commenced life as a school teacher, and has attained prominence as one of the leading physicians of Iowa, where he has a large practice, with headquarters at Orient.
