Milburn, William E. F

soldier, educator, lawyer, legislator, was born Nov. 15, 1842, in Milburnton, Tenn. In 1871 he graduated from the Grant university, and in 1874 from the university of Michigan, with the degree of A. M. During the war he served in the United States army as first sergeant and first lieutenant in company B, twelfth regiment Tennessee volunteer cavalry, and was in twenty-seven engagements. During 1871-73 he was professor of mathematics in the Grant university; has been a member of the board of education of Greeneville, Tenn.; a director in the Greene County bank, and commander of the department of Tennessee, Grand Army of the Republic. For four years he served with distinction as a member of the Tennessee state legislature, and is one of the foremost lawyers of the south.
