Mcteer, Will Anderson
soldier, lawyer, legislator, was born Sept. 16, 1843, in Blount county, Tenn. During the civil war he served the union as adjutant of the third Tennessee cavalry; was acting assistant adjutant-general of the first brigade fourth cavalry division, and was commissioned as major. He served with distinction as a representative in the Tennessee state legislature. He has been clerk of the circuit court of Blount county; has been United States commissioner for the district of East Tennessee, and for eighteen years has been treasurer of the Maryville college. He is one of the foremost lawyers of Tennessee, and has a large practice in Maryville.
MCTYEIRE, HOLLAND NIMMONS, bishop, author, was born July 28, 1824, in Barnwell county, S. C. He was a methodist bishop in Tennessee, and the author of Manual of Discipline; Duties of Masters; and History of Methodism. He died Feb. 15, 1889, in Nashville, Tenn.
