Mclean, John Howell
clergyman, educator, college president, was born Sept. 24, 1838, in Hinds county, Miss. For twenty years he has filled successively circuits, stations, and districts in the methodist episcopal church south. For seventeen years he has been a professor in the Southwestern university of Georgetown, Tex., of which institution he has been president since 1889. He has been elected five times as a delegate to the general conference; and was a delegate to the ecumenical conference held in Washington in 1891.
