John's college, Notre Dame university, and the State university of Michigan. Since 1882 he has continuously been a member of the democratic committee, and a delegate to nearly every state convention of his party since 1884. He has taken an active interest in politics and has attained success as a platform speak- Since 1888 he has practiced law with success in Moline, Ill., and since 1894 has been postmaster of that city. er.
