Lewis, John Frederick

lawyer, orator, was born Sept. 10, 1860, in Philadelphia, Pa. He received his education in the public schools of Philadelphia, and was a graduate of the Central High school of that city. He has attained success at the bar; has been president of the Law academy of Philadelphia, and was formerly its prothonotary. He is chairman of the executive committee of the Philadelphia Humane society; president of the American Humane union; and vice-president of the Merchants' Trust company. He is identified with many charitable institutions; is secretary of the Pennsylvania Institution for the Deaf and Dumb; and for m many years was president of the Lutheran association of Philadelphia, and also of the Missionary society of St. John's Lutheran church.
