Lewis, John T
soldier, lawyer, was born Nov. 6, 1838, in Lewis county, Mo.
He served four years in the confederate army under General Price's command.
For eight years he was cashier of the Canton Savings bank; and for six years was mayor of that city. In 1876 he was a presidential elector on the Tilden and Hendricks ticket; and was prominent in politics during the trying times of reconstruction; and has always been a consistent democrat. He is now one of the foremost lawyers of Texas at San Antonio.
