Lewis, Francis

signer of the declaration of independence, was born in March, 1713, in Wales. In 1735 he settled in New York as a merchant; and in the prosecution of his business visited Russia and other parts of Europe. He became one of the Sons of Liberty; was a delegate to the continental congress from 1776 to 1779; signed the articles of confederation; and was also one of the signers of the declaration of independence.

He died Dec. 30, 1803, in New York city, N. Y.
