Kantz, August Valentine

soldier, was born Jan. 5, 1828, in Germany. He served in the civil war; and for gallant and meritorious services attained the rank of brigadier-general. KAPLAN, A. ORNSTEIN, poet, was born in November, 1849, in Germany. In 1857 he came to America with his parents; lived in New York city until 1861; and in Loveland, near Cincinnati, Ohio, until 1868.

Since that time he has lived in Cincinnati, principally engaged in the insurance business. He is the author of several volumes, notably three beautiful brochures, entitled The Magic Laugh; The Prince of Hades; and The Baby's Biography.
