Kelso, James V

soldier, lawyer, was born April 16, 1835, in Madison, Ind.

He received the rudiments of his education in the common and high schools of his native county; attended the New Albany university, and the Asbury university. He served three years as a union soldier during the civil war, and participated in the battles of Stone River, Chickamauga, and Missionary Ridge. For eight years he was city attorney of New Albany, Ind.; for ten years was county attorney of Floyd county; and for three years was trustee of the New Albany city schools.
