Kaufman, David Spangler

lawyer, state legislator, congressman, was born Dec. 18, 1813, in Boiling Springs, Pa. In 1837 he moved to Nacogdoches, Texas; and in 1838 was elected a representative in the Texan congress. He was twice re-elected, and twice chosen speaker of the house; and in 1843 was elected to the senate. He was elected one of the first members of the house of representatives from Texas, serving from 1846 to 1851. He died Jan. 13, 1851, in Washington, D. C. a
