Jennings, Samuel
Quaker preacher, was born in England. He took up his residence in Philadelphia, where, in 1690- 93, he was justice of the quorum and judge of the county court. He died in 1708 in Burlington, N. J.
JENNINGS, SAMUEL KENNEDY, preacher, was born June 6, 1771, in Essex county, N. J. He moved to Baltimore in 1817; was one of the prime movers in the introduction of lay representation in the conferences of the methodist episcopal church, and finally was expelled from this connection and organized a new body known as the methodist protestant church.
He was distinguished as a pulpit orator and evangelist. He died Oct. 19, 1854, in Baltimore, Md.
