Jackson, Oscar L
soldier, lawyer, congressman, was born Sept. 2, 1840, in Lawrence county, Pa. He served in the union army from 1861 to 1865, entering as captain, and receiving the promotions of major, lieutenant-colonel, and colonel by brevet. He was district attorney from 1868 to 1871; was county solicitor from 1874 to 1880; and was a member of the commission to codify laws and devise a plan for the government of cities of Pennsylvania in 1877 and 1878. He was elected a representative from Pennsylvania to the forty-ninth and fiftieth congresses as a republican.
