Hewit, Henry Stewart
soldier, surgeon, was born Dec. 26, 1825, in Fair- 26, 1825, in Fairfield, Conn. In 1861 he entered the army as brigade-surgeon of volunteers, and was brevetted colonel in March, 1865, for gallant conduct during the war. He died Aug. 19, 1873, in New York city.
Hewitt, Alexander
farmer, state senator, was born March 25, 1818, in Edin- 1818, in Edinburg, N. Y. In 1884 he settled on a farm near Hillsdale, Mich. He was president of the Hillsdale County Agricultural society for two years; and in 1879 served with distinction as a member of the Michigan state senate. He died July 18, 1895, in Hillsdale, Mich.
