Heflin, Robert Stell
soldier, lawyer, jurist, congressman, was born April 15, 1815, in Madison, Ga. He served in the Creek war in 1836; and was elected clerk of the superior court of Fayette county in 1836, and re-elected in 1838.
He was a member of the state senate in 1840 and 1841. He moved to Randolph county, Ga., in 1844; was a member of the legislature in 1849 and 1860. He was appointed judge of probate in 1865, and subsequently elected to that office, which he held until the state was admitted into the union. He was a republican elector; and was elected to the forty-first congress.
