Heaton, David

lawyer, state senator, congressman, was born March 10, 1823, in Butler county, Ohio. He was elected to the Ohio senate. In 1857 he removed to Minnesota; was elected to the senate of that state and was twice reelected. In 1863 he removed to New Berne, N. C., where he held a position under the treasury department. In 1868 he was elected a representative from North Carolina to the fortieth congress; and was re-elected to the forty-first congress. He died June 25, 1870, in Washington, D. C.
