Hearn, Lafcadio
author, was born June 27, 1850, in the Ionian islands. He is a writer of Irish and Greek parentage long a resident of New Orleans, later of New York city, and more recently of Japan. He is the author of Stray Leaves from Strange Literature; Some Chinese Ghosts; Chita; Two Years in the French West Indies; Youma, the Story of a West Indian Slave; Glimpses of Unfamiliar Japan; Out of the East; Reveries and Studies in New Japan; Kokoro; and Hints and Echoes of Japanese Inner Life.
