Harrison, Carter Henry
lawyer, mayor of Chicago, congressman, was born Feb. 15, 1825, in Fayette county, Ky. He was a democrat and mayor of Chicago for eight years, from 1879 to 1887, and again in 1893. He represented Cook county for two terms in congress, and was a candidate for governor of Illinois in 1884. He bought The Chicago Times and owned it at the time of his death. He was assassinated by an anarchist, and died Oct. 28, 1893, in Chicago, Ill.
