Harris, Ira
lawyer, jurist, congressman, United States senator, lecturer, was born May 31, 1802, in Charleston, N. Y.
In 1844 he was elected to the state legislature ture; re-elected in 1845; and was elected the state senate. In 1847 he was elected judge of the supreme court, and held the position twelve and a half years. In 1861 he was elected, for six years, a senator in congress from New York. He died Dec. 2, 1875, in Albany, N. Y.
