Hansbrough, Henry C

journalist, congressman, United States senator, was born Jan. 30, 1848, in Prairie du Rocher, Ill. He removed to the then territory of Dakota in 1882, engaging in journalism; became prominent as an advocate of the republican policy of division and admission; and was twice elected mayor of his city. He received the republican nomination for congress at the first state convention and was elected to the fiftyfirst congress. He was elected to the United States senate as a republican in 1891.
