Hodges, James

merchant, public official, was born Aug. 11, 1822, in Liberty Hall, Md. In 1846, in connection with ficial, was born Aug. 11, 1822, in Liberty his brother he started a wholesale house in Baltimore, Md., which is now one of the largest business houses in that city.

In 1885 he was elected mayor of Baltimore, and his administration marked by wisdom and purity.
