Hamilton, James (Artist was born in in Ireland)

artist, was born in 1819 in Ireland. He is well known as the spirited illustrator of Dr. Kane's Arctic Expedition. Among his pictures are Capture of the Serapis; Old Ironsides; An Egyptian Sunset; Wrecked Hopes; Coleridge's Ancient Mariner; and many subjects from the Arabian Nights.

HAMILTON, JAMES ALEXANDER, lawyer, author, was born April 14, 1788, in New York city. He is a lawyer of New York city; and the author of Reminiscences during Three Quarters of a Century; and Martin Van Buren's Calumnies Repudiated. He died Sept. 24, 1878, in Irvington, N. Y.
