Hale, Silas W
soldier, merchant, legislator, was born Sept. 18, 1844, in Bluffton, Ind. While teaching school he enlisted in company A, one hundred and fifty-third regiment Indiana volunteer infantry, and was made sergeant. He has attained success as a merchant; was one of the organizers of the Geneva bank, of which he is vice-president; and has taken an active part in the business and public affairs of his city, county and state. In 1886 he was elected to the state senate of the Indiana state legislature.
