Griswold, Stanley
clergyman, journalist, lawyer, jurist, United States senator, was born Nov. 14, 1763, in Torringford, Conn. In 1804 he became the editor of a democratic paper in Walpole , N. H.; and was soon afterward appointed secretary of the territory of Michigan.
He was a senator in congress from Ohio in 1809; and was United States judge for the northwestern territory. He died Aug. died Aug. 21, 1815, in Shawneetown, Ill.
