Greene, Albert Collins

soldier, lawyer, United States senator, born April 15, 1791, in East Greenwich, R. I. In 1815 he was elected to the general assembly of the state; in 1816 was elected a brigadier-general of militia, and subsequently became a major-general. From 1822 to 1825 he served again in the legislature of the state, and was chosen speaker. From 1825 to 1843 he was attorney-general of the state; and from 1845 to 1851 was a senator in congress from Rhode Island.

He died Jan. 8, 1863, in Providence, R. I.
