Googins, George

physician, surgeon, was born in October, 1822, in Hancock, Maine. In 1847 he graduated from the Maine Medical college of Brunswick.

For several years he has been United States examining surgeon; and is one of the oldest and most reliable physicians in eastern Maine, and for nearly half a century has practiced his profession at Milbridge. In 1871-72 he served as a member of the Maine state legislature, and has been active in politics all his life, and a prominent member of the whig and republican parties.
