Glendy, John
clergyman, author, was born June 24, 1755, in Ireland. In 1806 he served as chaplain of the United States house of representatives, and in 1815 and 1816 of the senate. He published an Oration in Commemoration of Washington, delivered in Staunton in 1800. He died Oct. 4, 1832, in Philadelphia, Pa.
WILLIAM GLENDY, MARSHALL, naval officer, was born in 1801, in Virginia. He was promoted to the rank of commodore in 1862, and in the following year was made prize commissioner in Washington, D. C. He died July 16, 1873, in Baltimore, Md.
