Garnett, James M

agriculturist, congressman, was born June 8, 1770, in Elmwood, Va. He was a member of the legislature of his native state, and was a representative in congress from Virginia, from 1805 to 1809. He was president of the Society of Fredericksburg for more than twenty years, and toiled laboriously for the formation of a National Agricultural society. He died in May, 1843, in Elmwood, Va.

GARNETT, MUSCOE RUSSELL HUN- TER, lawyer, congressman, was born in Essex county, Va. He was a member of the house of delegates in 1853-56. He was elected to the thirty-fifth congress as a representative from Virginia, and was reelected to the thirty-sixth congress.
