Fry, James Barnet
soldier, author, was born Feb. 22, 1827, in Carrollton, Ill.
He was a colonel and brevet major-general in the United States army, and was retired from active service in 1881, and thereafter lived in New York city. He was the author of Sketch of the Adjutant-General's Department in 1775-1875; Historical and Legal Effects of Brevets in Great Britain and the United States from their Origin in 1692; Army Sacrifices; Mc Dowell and Tyler in the Campaign of Bull Run; Operations of the Army under Buell; and New York and Conscription. He died in 1894.
