Foot, Solomon
educator, lawyer, congressman, United States senator, was born Nov. 19 , 1802, in Cornwall, Vt. He was a member of the Vermont legislature in 1833, 1836, 1837, 1838, and 1847; and was speaker of the house during his last three terms. He was a representative in congress from 1843 to 1847, and was elected a senator in congress from Vermont for the term 1851-57. He was re-elected for the term ending in 1863; also for a third term ending in 1869. He died March 28, 1866, in Washington.
