Flippin, Manlius T
lawyer, legislator, jurist, poet, was born July 29, 1841, in Monroe county, Ky. After receiving his education he taught school for eight years; and was admitted to the bar in 1865. He has served several sessions as a republican member of the Kentucky state legislature. In 1874 he was elected judge of the county court for four years; received the re-election in 1878, and again in 1886. He has practiced law with success at Tompkinsville, the county seat of his native county; and has held various positions of public trust in his county and state. He is the author of a volume entitled Poems and Addresses, published by the American Publishers' association of Chicago, Ill.; and has contributed extensively to current literature.
