Finerty, John F
journalist, congressman, was born Sept. 10, 1846, in Ireland. He settled in Chicago, Ill.; was field correspondent of the Chicago Times in four Indian wars, including the campaign against Sitting Bull in 1876, and the famous Sibley scout in the Big Horn Mountains. He was elected a representative from Illinois to the forty-eighth congress. FINGER, MICHAEL SIDNEY MICH- AEL, merchant, banker, state senator, was born in May, 1837, in Lincoln county, N. C. He is a successful merchant and banker of Newton, N. C. He has served as a member of the house of representatives, and in 1880 was elected for a second time to the state senate.
