lawyer, was born Dec. 19, 1808, in Norwich, N. Y. In 1848 he was elected lieutenantgovernor of Michigan, and re-elected in 1850 and 1851. He died May 13, 1871, in Flint, Mich.

FENWICK, BENEDICT JOSEPH, bishop, was born Sept. 3, 1782, in Leonardtown, Md. In 1817 he was elected president of Georgetown college; and was at the same time rector of Trinity college.

In 1825 he was appointed second Roman catholic bishop of Boston. He died Aug. 11, 1846, in Boston, Mass.
