Fenton, Reuben Eaton
congressman, governor, United States senator, was born July 1, 1819, in Carroll, N. Y. He was elected a representative in the thirtythird and thirty-fifth congresses from New York; and was re-elected to the thirty-sixth, thirty-seventh, and thirtyeighth congresses. He resigned to accept the governorship of New York for 1865 and 1866, to which he had been elected; and was re-elected to the same position in 1869. He was elected a senator in congress for the term ending in 1875. He died Aug. 25, 1885, in Jamestown, N. Y.
