Fassett, Jacob Sloat

lawyer, legislator, was born Nov. 13, 1853, in Elmira, N. Y. In 1875 he graduated from the Rochester university; and in 1878 was admitted to the bar. The same year he was commissioned district attorney for the county of Chemung; and subsequently studied abroad. During 1884-92 he was a member of the New York state senate; 1 of the senate. In 1888 he was a delegate to the republican national convention; in 1891 was nominated by the republicans for governor of New York; and has always taken a prominent part in public affairs. He is engaged in several large business enterprises; controls the Elmira Daily Advertiser; and the management of the Second National bank; and is the responsible manager of the little mining town of Banner, Idaho.
