Ewart, Hamilton Glover
lawyer, jurist, congressman, was born Oct. 23, 1849, in Columbia, S. C. He was appointed by Chief Justice Waite register in bankruptcy for the ninth congressional district; and was twice elected mayor of Hendersonville. He was district elector on the Hayes ticket in 1876; and received the nomination for congress in 1884. He was elected to the lower house of the legislature in 1886, in which body he was an active member. He was elected to the fifty-first congress as a republican.
