Edwards, Benjamin

farmer, merchant, congressman, was born in 1752 in Stafford county, Va. He was a member of the Maryland legislature; also of the state convention which ratified the federal constitution; and was a member of congress from Maryland from 1794 to 1795 to fill a vacancy. He died Nov. 13, 1826, in Todd county, Va.

EDWARDS, BENJAMIN STEVENSON, lawyer, state legislator, jurist, was born June 3, 1818, in Edwardsville, Ill. In 1869 he was elected circuit judge of Sangamon county, Ill., but resigned after eighteen months' service, preferring the active practice of his profession. He died Feb. 5, 1886, in Springfield, Ill.
