Davis, Reuben
lawyer, jurist, general, congressman, author, was born Jan. 18, 1813, in Tullahoma, Tenn. He was in the Mexican war as colonel commandant of the Mississippi rifles, but resigned on account of sickness. He was elected to the lower branch of the state legislature from 1855 to 1857; and was elected a member of the thirty-fifth congress, and re-elected to the thirty-sixth congress, and was a member of the special committee of thirtythree; joined the rebellion in 1861. He was the author of Recollections of Mississippi and the Mississippians. He died in 1890.
