Davis, Henry G
railroad president, banker, United States senator, born Nov. 16, 1823, in Howard county, Md. He settled in West Virginia, and in 1858 became president of a bank. In 1865 he was elected to the legislature; in 1868 was a delegate to the democratic national convention; in the same year was elected to the state senate; and in 1870 was re-elected. He was elected a senator in congress from West Virginia for the term ending in 1877, and was reelected for the term ending in 1883. In 1881 he became president of the West Virginia Central and Pittsburg railway, and also of the Piedmont and Cumberland railway.
