Currey, John Thomas
farmer, horticulturist, legislator, financier, was born Oct. 28, 1837, in Harrodsburg, Ky. He received the rudiments of his education in the common schools, and graduated from the Asbury university of Greencastle, Ind.
He commenced life as a day laborer, and now owns a farm of two thousand acres, fifty acres of which are in orchards. He has served as a member of the Texas state legislature in the house of representatives for four sessions, thus devoting eight years of his time to the management of the state revenues and appropriations, educational and stock interests. He has been president of the Farmers' County Alliance of Van Zandt county, Texas, and has been vice-president of the Dallas state fair.
