Calderhead, William A
soldier, lawyer, congressman, was born Sept. 26, 1844, in Perry county, Ohio. He enlisted in 1862 as a private in company H, one hundred and twenty-sixth Ohio infantry; was transferred to company D, ninth veteran reserves, for disability incurred in the service, and discharged June 27, 1865. In 1872 he settled on a homestead near Newton, Kan., and taught school one year in Newton. He was elected county attorney in the fall of 1888 and served two years; and was elected to the fiftyfourth congress as a republican.
