Cox, Christopher C
physician, lieutenant-governor, was born Aug. 16, 1816, in Baltimore, Md. He was appointed commissioner of pensions in 1868; a member of the board of health in 1871, acting as president of the board for several years. His special line of study was medicine, and he practiced both as a physician and a surgeon; and was for one year a professor in one of the Philadelphia colleges. He served as president of a medical society; as a surgeon in the army during the rebellion, and was surgeon-general of the state of Maryland. Before the close of the war he was elected lieutenant-governor of Maryland.
